In 2016 I co-founded Nook with William Goddard, a game development studio and research group created to foster collaboration between games research students, and to operate at an intersection between academia and industry.
Core to Nook was a shared (L-shaped) office space with permanent and rotating desks to facilitate collaborative game making, and discussion activities. Nook also provided a shared workspace for visiting researchers and game makers, both local and international.
As a collaborative studio Nook resulted many solo and collaboratively made experimental games including WORLD4, and SWOL.
In addition to studio projects Nook activities included weekend game jams, prototype workshops, play-test and feedback sessions, and a games-focused reading group open to the public.
